Thanks for all the submissions. There are four submissions that we thought showed the most promise.
Elana Haden Great voice
Karen Bernod Great arrangement
Tracy Skill Great voice on the rap, nice singing energy
JAX great rap, great singing vocal
Nice job Portlife on the rap, but JAX and Tracy SKILL rap sections elicited a stronger response.
We will be posting the the chosen vocal later this evening. Below are the critiques of each!!!!
PORTLIFE
*The male rap is great, the singing section needs work.
*Listen for sections where the pitch is off.
*We also noticed that the singing was off beat in some places.
*The vocal should be sung with more energy and life. Think summertime fun or all year round fun.
*We like the voice of the singer but the execution could be better as far as pitch and style rhythm and energy go.
*The female rap is better than the singing section but clarity on the vocal would really help. Probably need to turn the vocal up.
*Nice job on the raps.
CAROLYN LEONHART
*Nice Job Carolyn. We love te fact that you created your own creative catchy melody over the track.
*Nice adlibbing as well.
*We would have loved to hear a stronger recording of your vocals. Maybe stack the "uh oh oh oh" part so it sounds like a big group of people.
*We also think that there is a little too much reverb on your track.
*Overall, very nice job. We would like to hear more energy surrounding your vocal. Maybe a party track of noise in the background.
VICTORY LEDGERWOOD
*Nice vocal sound Victory. We would like to have heard you go up in pitch on the "hope you like jamba too" section.
*By going down in pitch, the vocal stays flat and can be construed as lacking energy.
*We like the section where you double up on the Jamba's. Very nice.
*Also, we think you could have added some call and response in your vocal to fill up the silent spaces.
*The decision to sing some of the original melody in lower pitches brings the brightness and energy down. To offset this, a party track of vocals where people are just making background party noise would help a lot.
*Nice job Victory, we like your voice!
DAYJOY333 FIVE OCTAVE RANGE
*The duo vocal is stronger than the solo vocal. The solo vocal doesn't sound sung as much as it sounds spoken.
*The arrangement on this track is identical to Victory Ledgerwood's arrangement. Therefore some of the same critiques apply.
*The decision to sing some of the original melody in lower pitches brings the brightness and energy down. To offset this, a party track of vocals where people are just making background party noise would help a lot.
*We would like to have heard you go up in pitch on the "hope you like jamba too" section.
*Nice duo sound overall.
JAX
*VERY nice production all around. Vocal is sung well. The rap is tight.
*Also, the pronunciation of the word jamba in the rap is incorrect. Easy fix if necessary.
*Very nice lyrics on the rap. We are wondering if some words get lost because of the speed of the words.
*Great energy. Maybe a party track should be added to this to keep up the noisy energy.
*Great job!!!!!
LILLIAN MOORE
*Nice voice Lillian, but you mispronounce the name of the product. It's pronounced "jamba"like the word "mamba" 0r honda
*We also think you have so much silence in your track that we forget about you on the track.
*You should be singing all the way through with adlibs as well.
*We like the doubling and harmonies you have near the end but we would like to hear much more energy.
*It's summertime fun and all around fun.
*The pitch of your vocal could be made brighter and more energetic with the choice of of different pitches on the word "juice."
*It sounds like you played it safe with no adlibs. We would love to hear you add more life to this track. Put a smile on it.
*Nice voice!
KAREN BERNOD
*Nice harmonies and stacking of vocals.
*we like the fact that you created your own melody of the vocals. Nice arrangement!
*Nice lyrics. There is probably too much similarity in vocal sound between the lead vocal and the rap vocal. We think the track would benefit by having more contrast between the two sections.
*Adding a party track of noise would probably sound good in the background.
*We like the "easy on your pockets" line.
*Very NICE job!!
TRACY SKILL
*Great chorus vocal. Very good energy.
*The voice of the rap is great, but the flow on rap 1 seems to be a little rushed the way it is written. Very difficult for someone to repeat and/or understand easily.
*Rap 2 has similar issues. It starts out cool but then twists up too fast.
*Sining wise we wold also like to hear some adlibs, and maybe some call and response between the singer and the rapper.
*We may want the rapper to come back in and re-write his vocal so that is easier to listen to and repeat.
*Very Nice job!
ELANA HAYDEN
*We love your vocal. Great voice.
*Very good adlibbing to keep the energy up throughout your track.
*We like the natural energy coming through your voice. Very engaging.
Nice recording. The background vocals you have towards the end are very good.
*Nice job overall.
