UNMATCHED POTENTIAL

Hello Wendell,

Music is my passion, something that we both agree on. I admire your drive, motivation and your talent. I am an aspiring classically trained (piano) producer, looking for an opportunity to gain experience in a professional studio. You can say I'm in the market for a mentor. I've taught myself production over the past 2.5 years and I think I have an unmatched potential, distinct sound, and brains to make something of myself in this industry, if given a platform. Please listen to some of my work

I"M STILL NOT LIVIN RIGHT

Hello Mr Hanes. I went looking for your book at barns. but the store clerk told me that it's made to order on the net.

I am a music producer myself with some credits to my name.
and I feel what your saying about waiting for that platinum
album or even breaking that artist to get your name really of
out there. To my credit I was apart of a platinum album.
STILL NOT LIVING RIGHT!!! HA HA

But anyway, a few friends of mine told me to go for the commercial music making route for a long time,of course me being stubborn just wanting to get my name on albums and such
didn't really pan out the way I thought it would.
so now, it feels like I'm starting all over again.

I just happen to be on the dynamic producer web site
and came across your link.I am very interested in
getting involved with making music for commercials.
not just for the money, for the creative challenge.
Todays artist are not giving me the challenge I need to
step it up and go beyond my creative limitations.

Sorry for being so long winded.I'm a little excited about
stepping into this world.I know my pub admin will be excited.
So your book will be brought. Hopefully we will rub elbows
soon in the near future and i can be one of those true success stories for your next book.

Have a good day-Neek

MAKING PROGRESS

Wendell,

Thanks for the info. I've actually started calling some music houses. I wanted to let you know that while talking to one of the houses listed in your book, they suggested that I call Noiselab in LA, because they heard that the owner was very cool and they are doing some good things over there. I called and immediately hit it off with Pinky. Two days later she called me to do a demo for a Lego commercial! I had a great time working on it last weekend and they loved what I sent them. So... things are starting to move forward. Thanks for your help!

If anything comes up for you and you want me to do a demo, feel free to contact me.

Take care!

Chris

THE 30-30 BOOK

Hi Wendell,

Got the book.
Will promote the hell out of it.
Great job!!!

Thanks very much,
David McGugh Professor
North Carolina School of the Arts

I FINISHED THE BOOK

Wendell,

Hi, I hope you are well. I just got back into town from a small tour I was on and finished your book while on the bus. Thanks for writing such an informative guide to the industry. The section on music houses was particularly eye opening for me. As I would like to make a quick transition from what I am doing for a living right now to composing full time, I feel that working with a music house may be a good option for me whether it be on staff or freelance.

After hearing my music, I was wondering if you have any suggestions of what music houses I should contact and what would be the best way to go about it. Would my style and abilities be more appropriate for certain houses? Is there a way to approach them where they would be more receptive to me?

Thanks again for your time. It's been very helpful and encouraging talking with you.

THE BOOK

Hello,

I just wanted to share that I'm loving this book. I'm writing to ask about the royalty-free music CDs that Wendell talks about. There are so many. I prefer CDs, rather than the online music sources which seem to be proliferating these days. Recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks!

Great book

Hey Wendell! How's everything going?

I just wanted to check in and say I finished the book (it was great!) and invested in some software with video capabilities.

I've contacted some friends that are directors to practice and work on a reel. In the mean time I've attached some music for you to check out. The first track is a song I produced and sang on for Kanye's new artist, Big Sean (GOOD/Island Def Jam). Thanks for your time. Sincerely,

Mike

Inspiring

Good Afternoon Wendell,

I met you briefly in the VIP room at the Remix conference this past weekend, and I had the pleasure of sitting and listening in on your panel. I wanted to thank you for the insightful and honest information you shared. Fortunately I am not exactly a struggling entrepreneur anymore, but I am always learning from the people and world around me and your information was a part of that.

I am reaching out to you today really more than anything to introduce myself in more detail and send you some information on who we are and what we do. I am co-owner of Westward Music Group, Inc. We are an audio engineer management company, and a full service studio. As a matter of fact we have recently merged with and are expanding on an already legendary studio in Harlem NYC. This facility was formerly owned by Jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman. The history in this place cannot be described in words.

Attached you will find some still photos of the two rooms that are completed, and there is a third room being built as I speak (or type). Once that third room is complete we will be having a grand opening party, and would love to extend an invitation to you. I also attached the discography of our head engineer and partner. In addition we will launch a virtual tour on our website, so I can keep you posted on that as well.

Please keep us in mind for any future projects that would be appropriate for recording or mixing in a studio environment. Between the 3 rooms, we truly will have the capabilities to meet most, if not all needs pertaining to audio work not to mention most budgets. Thank you in advance for your time and I do look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Juliet Lerman

How Many EMCEESMust get dissed!

Hey Wendell,

Great seeing you yesterday. Love those panels because you never stop learning in this
game!

We have a bunch of songs in our catalog that our completely sample free and for which we
either own, control, or administer the publishing. This year we've created original
music for ESPN college basketball (license deal so we can still further license these
basketball related tracks, The History Channel and have licensed music to video games
such as Rockstar and EA Sports. Obviously would love to continue to put these songs in
front of potential business opportunities so interested to hear your thoughts on what we
might be able to do?
